Love at the John Marshall Hotel in Richmond, VA

Back in November of 2023 Lexus and her fiance reached out to me. They wanted to have engagement photos taken at the main street station here in Richmond, Virginia. I reached out to the Director of Main Street station, but the station was booked up during the timeframe and they had no availability. I began searching for a location in the area that had a similar look and feel as the Main Street Station but quickly found that there were very few in the area that didn't require a booked wedding or crazy fee to shoot in the location.

Not expecting anything different than what I had found at the other locations I called I reached out to the director over at the John Marshall but surprisingly she said that not only did they happen to have no scheduled events for that time frame but she was nice enough to allow us to shoot in the location free of charge. My clients were couldn't have been more thrilled to hear the good news and I am extremely thankful to them for allowing me the opportunity to shoot in such a beautiful location.

From 1929 to the 1980's the hotel was a premier luxury hotel, known for its grand architecture and opulent interiors, which included ballrooms, dining rooms, and a rooftop garden. The hotel quickly became a social hub in Richmond, hosting numerous notable events and guests over the decades. It underwent a significant renovation and reopened in 2011 as a mixed-use development, combining residential apartments with event spaces. The restoration preserved many of the original architectural features, allowing the John Marshall Hotel to retain its historical charm while serving modern purposes.
